| June is here!
Got some corn, cukes, squash, and sweet potatoes planted last week. First
attempt at sweet potatoes... you get a dozen pretty much dead looking plants
from the grower. It'll be interesting to see how this works out. The
recommended technique is to mound up a row about a foot high, and cover with
black plastic, so I did that.
Planted some transplant Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes and two varieties of
lettuce last week, also. The Sweet 100's are blooming now. The lettuce didn't
take to the transplanting at all... the outer leaves went yellow.
Tomatoes (Gurney Girl) and peppers go in tonight, weather permitting.
Haven't decided whether to plant watermelon or not - don't have that much
space left in our 30'x25' garden.

| First two plantings of corn are up and some of the squash has sprouted.
Watched the beans pop out on Saturday in between weeding, and riding
herd on kidlets. Still need to get the pepper plants in. The lettuce
woman is definitely taking shape. Have to see what the rest of the
symbols do this year.
One of our gardening neighbors has made a "Knot garden" style with
flowers in the middle and lots of veggies where the shubberies and
herbs usually go. Last year another gardner had made a medicine wheel
of corn and other veggies. Haven't gotten up to the "kidless" end of
the community garden to see how things are going.
