Hi all, I have a costumer who bought an LSR2000 and a LN17 (for some reason he didn't get the disks). He would like to be able to manage these two kind of printers remotely. I have downloaded the DSP and the Spooler utility to try it out on my computer and then send them to the costumer, but i noticed that the LN17 software only runs with netware and the LSR2000 with Appletalk, besides, these are not windows95 applications nor NT. The costumer has an enviroment composed of VMS, NT and windows95; So, i would like to known if the DSP and Spooler will be released on the windows95 and/or NT? When? And if these two softwares will ever run on different protocols, like TCP/IP or DECNET or even NETBEUI? This last question is because the costumer doesn't have NETWARE and he does not want to install it. I known that probably this is not the right place to ask these questions, and i have already mailed these questions to the address that appears on a internal printers page, but probably someone who reads these notes can also answer me these questions. Thanks, NelsonR.

For the LN17, the DS/P software runs on Windows 3.1/3.11 only, and over the NetWare protocol only. This software comes from Xerox and they have no plans to add support for Windows 95 or NT. For the Colorwriter LSR 2000+, the utilities run on Macintosh, Windows NT and Windows 95. Note that this is true for the 2000+, not the 2000. If your printer is not a +, you can upgrade with the LNC1X-CF kit. Paul | |||||

Nelson, This is an appropriate place to ask your questions as well. Some of your questions have already been answered in this conference before. - LN17 and DS/P software The DS/P software is designed for Netware and is only supported on the Windows 3.1 platform. There are no plans to improve this software by the vendor that provided it to us so there is nothing we can give out. - Colorwriter LSR 2000 First, be certain whether the customer has a Colorwriter LSR 2000 (system software version 1.x, PostScript version 2013) or Colorwriter LSR 2000+ (system software version 2.x, PostScript version 2015). The original '2000 Spooler utility only works on Windows 3.1 with AppleTalk. The newer '2000+ Spooler utility only works on Windows NT and Windows 95 with either TCP/IP or Netware. The newer version of this printer has many other problem fixes as well. I don't believe the newer utilities have made it to the internal page yet--however, they are on the external Digital PSB InfoCenter site: http://www.printers.digital.com/sofwar/prt_sofwar.html |
