I need some assistance on this one. I have a user who has about 30 ln09 units with a 5100 nic card in them running the latest code (as of 1996). He is looking to run just LAT and TCPIP protocals only and wants the others turned off. Following is the customer comments: " I am getting ready to roll out TCP/IP printing to most printers and am having major difficulty getting IP addresses into the network card in the DEC LN09R printers since they do not have a console port. I need a reliable method (works all the time) to maintain these network cards IP addresses. I don't want to have to use Appletalk or novell networks to do it. I want NT or Win95 tools. I have tried the book provided with the network card and UCX tools and some other materials from DEC with little reliability. Please Help !!!! Dan" I found out that Unix can do this but again that is an expense to do as he doesn't have a Unix resourse. Any Ideas? This there a new card that could be used? These printers are on a network. Thanks for the help in advance Gregg Stoughton [email protected] 616-883-6287

Have you tried the \WINNT\MINIKIT.EXE program on the Novell floppy? This runs on Windows NT but doesn't require the NetWare protocol. This will allow you to set the TCP/IP address on the DEClaser 5100 network card. Paul |
