7160.0. "LPS20 on UNIX V4.0: printer not accepting jobs" by MUNICH::WENDL (OOOO - Open Object-Oriented Ogre) Tue Apr 15 1997 11:35

Hello,
        booting our lps20 with tcp/ip works

/usr/adm/syslog.dated/15-Apr-11:03/>>>grep tftpd daemon.log
...
Apr 15 16:14:14 h5j01 tftpd[13091]: sending file /tftpboot/lps.sys
Apr 15 16:14:36 h5j01 tftpd[13091]: finished sending /tftpboot/lps.sys
...
        but then the lps only shows its HW-address and VAXELN V4.5 LPS.
        ==============================================================
/>>>lpc stat lps20
lps20:
        printer is on device '/dev/null-lps20' speed -1
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        1 entry in spool area
        PrintServer host donp01 not available: Printer not accepting jobs

btw, we use 'PrintServer Software for OSF/1 AXP' V5.1 on Digital UNIX V4.0
Any help is welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Uli

7160.1Managem daemon/client not running or configured correctly18669::HARVEYPrintserver Support- America's ZoneTue Apr 15 1997 12:2116
  Uli,

    The problem is that there is not a management daemon process running to
    perform the second phase of loading the lps printer. Use the lpssetup
    utility and bring up its menu; then using menu item "2" Managing
    Management Clients, list the available management clients. If there is
    one for your printer then using the sub-menu modify it; make sure that
    this management client has "provide configuration services (y|n)
    answered as yes.

    If there is not any management client for the printer add one and make
    sure to answer yes to the configuration services question.
