7107.0. "Excel will not print 11x17 " by CSCMA::RUSSELL () Mon Mar 03 1997 14:56

    Hello,

    My customer is having problems printing from Excel v5.0c installed
    under W95 via WIndows-NT.

    The LPS20-turbo is booted from NT server /w V5.1 Printer software.

    When running Excel application, under "file" he selects->Page-setup,
    -> options and then selects "tabloid (11x17), and landscape. The file
    will go to the default tray (lcit /w 8.5 x11).

    I suggested that he select from file->page-setup->print->properties.
    and then select B5(which is close to the 11x17 paper dimensions).
    This does not work from the customers application, it may be the
    version of Excel he is running.

    WOUld anyone have any other suggestions to override the default
    papertray?

    Thank YOu,
    LYnda

7107.1what is "paper source" set to?REGENT::GALLAGHERTue Mar 04 1997 11:3512

    Lynda -

    under page-setup/options/ on the same screen where you select TABLOID,
    make sure the "paper source" is set to Autoselect Tray. I was able to
    print TABLOID, landscape using these settings from Excel on a turbo20
    and lps32.
    "autoselect" allows the software to pick the input tray that matches the requested
    media type. If you have created a conflict by saying TABLOID and LCIT,
    you won't get what you want! (exact results depend on whether
    PostScript is level 2 or not, and the "policies" settings if it is
    level 2).

    Hello,

    still not able to get 11x17 sheets from Excel, we selected "autoselect"
    from the "paper source", send the excel doc to the printer, we get
    landscape format but it's on 8.5 x 11 sheets.

    The lps20 turbo is using PS V48.3-61 interpreter.

    Thanks You,
    Lynda
7107.3did you make both selections?REGENT::WIMBERGThu Mar 06 1997 13:426

    Just to be specific, you must do BOTH. Use autoselect from the input
    source and tabloid in page setup

    We did both selections, autoselect from the input-source and tabloid
    from page-setup.
    The file still prints from the default tray, 8.5x11 sheets.
    Are there any other setting that I might be overlooking that is
    preventing the file to print 11x17?

    Thank You,
    Lynda
7107.5output locationREGENT::WIMBERGMon Mar 10 1997 14:427

    What is the output location? The mailbox and the large capacity output
    stacker can not handle 11x17 media. That would prevent 11x17 from being
    selected.

7107.6try the port settings for input and outputREGENT::WIMBERGTue Mar 11 1997 16:2516

    OK, I just found this intereesting little tidbit - try checking the
    port settings on your printer control panel. From W95 its

    control panel -> printer->select printer -> properties -> details
    ->port settings->output tray make sure it is NOT select

    Do the same for the input source - the box on the left should NOT have
    a check mark and the box on the right should have a gray default as its
    value.

    Let me know

    Hi,

    I had the customer check the control panel->printer->select printer
    ->properties->details, port settings-> paper source...

    there is no option to disable or turn off the output bin.
    same with input-bin option,

    note: that the output bin is defined as "upper"

    There's no mailbox or large capacity output bin on this lps20.

    Thank you for the help,

7107.8specifics for Win NTREGENT::WIMBERGWed Mar 12 1997 15:1617

    OK , I went to co-worker's NT system. You'll need to select:

    control panel->printer->specific
    PrintServer->properties->settings->options

    Then you'll see a list of for things with a small box to the left and
    little bit larger box to the right. Box to the left enables/disables.
    Box to the right contains appropriate value. Be sure the box to the
    left is not select - if it has an X in it, its select. It needs to be
    blank. Then the box to the right will say default.

    Once this is set, the customer still has to select tabloid on the page
    setup and autoselect for input tray from the Excel application.

    We followed the instruction in the last reply. The Excel files
    are now printing from the correct trays.

    Thanks for all the help,
