7075.0. "LN17ps, priv password not as documented" by TREES::HEINTZ () Sat Feb 08 1997 17:11

Our group just purchased a brand new LN17ps. In going through the
DNIC card setup, I was able to set the IP address following the
    instructions in the manual..

I need to set the subnet mask... I am able to telnet to the DNIC,
and the default password of 'access' lets me in.

I do a set priv, and feed it the default password of 'system', and it
won't take it.. I tried various combinations of case sensitivity no
    luck..

Brand new outta of the box printer...

How does one reset the card to factory settings without being able to
get into priv mode? Or, has anyone else seen this, and how have they
    gotten around it?

    Thanks, Jim

    There's also a note on p 5-33:

Certain Telnet clients must first enter a Backspace keystroke and then
       enter the password.

Perhaps you are among those clients; I know I am. ;-) I have also
found with VMS (UCX) Telnet, I must turn off echo or I get all my
commands echoed. The only way I've found to do it is to define an echo
character, then press that key when I get in.
