| The DEClaser 220 is not a PostScripot printer, and won't work with DCPS.
If, in fact, what you have is a DEClaser 2250, that is a PostScript printer
and will work with DCPS. Is the printer in PS mode? (What ELSE does the
front panel display besides PROCESSING? Does it have PS in front?)
LATSYM is a not a PostScript symbiont.

And what are the answers to the rest of the questions in .1?
And:
Are you printing PostScript from your Unix system?
You are using the serial port, properly configured, from each system?

| Hi Tom,
Yes the printer is in PS mode , when a file is printed the display
show PS READY, PS PROCESSING , PS WAITING and back to idle and nothing
is printed. The UNIX file was text format and printed ok. The only
error we get is "printer not ready" on the vax machines.
any ideas ?

| Hi Gerard-louis,
We are running DCPS V1.3 , I have switched enable on and these
are the errors I get:
With notif the printer is starting....
then we get :
Message from user SYSTEM on SYSTEM
Queue LN05$EDIOUT: %DCPS-W-NOT_READY, Printer is not ready
This will keep looping until the entry is deleted.
I tried defining the dcps logical as per last note:
the queue did exactly the same as above.

DCPS tries to exchange control signals with a printer when a new job begins.
In this case, it looks like the return isn't being seen by DCPS.
Recheck your serial line connections, including communications settings,
state of the cables, securely connected, etc.
