7050.5LSR2000 spooler questionJULIET::CABREIRA_ROBobby CabreiraMon Mar 03 1997 19:1713
    Is the Spooler that Canon has exactly the same as the one that we have?
    who created the Spooler software? Was it EFI or was it Canon.

    A customer called, and he was so upset on how the Canon Spooler works,
    and he was asking about our version of the spooler software, and wants
    to return his Canon printer, and get an LSr2000+ to replace it. If
    it is exactly the same, then it does not make sense to send him an
    LSR2000+. If it is different, what are the differences of thier
    verison and ours?

    thanks in advance,

7050.6Spooler is from EFIFUNYET::ANDERSONWhere's the nearest White Castle?Tue Mar 04 1997 10:016
The Spooler comes from EFI. Our version has been customized for us, but I don't
know how different it is from Canon's version. Remember there are major visual
improvements from V1.0 (2000) to V2.01 (2000+). There are also performance
improvements in V2.1, to be released shortly.

    As Paul mentioned, the Spooler application comes from EFI and is
    fundamentally the same for all of their OEMs. (Canon is one; IBM is
    another.) In my experience, they've been, um, unable to fix real bugs
    much less modify the base functionality. Jobs in the waiting state
    still cannot be modified in the upcoming point release.
