    AN internal Digital customer is having trouble getting his lpd
    TEXT queue to work.

    The error message we get when sending a text job is this...

    %ucx-e-request rejected; print request has been rejected by !AS

	We can ping the printer just fine.

    Note: we have a lpd postscript queue with PASSALL set, it works just
    fine.

    UCX V3.3, eco level 4 and VMS v6.1

    ANy ideas would be appreciated,

6908.17Works hereFUNYET::ANDERSONOpenVMS pays the billsTue May 27 1997 13:1621
This configuration works for me, but I'm running OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 and TCP/IP
Services V4.1 ECO 4. Perhaps there's a problem with the version of TCP/IP
Services?

Does anything show up in the log file SYS$SPECIFIC:[UCX_LPD]LN17TEXT.LOG?

My PRINTCAP entry is

    LN17_TEXT|ln17_text:\
            :lf=/SYS$SPECIFIC/UCX_LPD/LN17_TEXT.LOG:\
            :lp=LN17_TEXT:\

            :rp=TEXT:\
            :sd=/SYS$SPECIFIC/UCX_LPD/LN17_TEXT:

I tried both the default and non_PS for the value of ps.

Is the printer's Ethernet card set up for language sensing between PostScript
and PCL?

 Ethernet port has language=postscript, and autosensing=off.

 Would appreciate any suggestions, the customer is starting to get anxious.

    Thank You,

6908.19Is autosensing the problem?FUNYET::ANDERSONOpenVMS pays the billsTue May 27 1997 15:586
> Ethernet port has language=postscript, and autosensing=off

The printer can't print a text file if its language is set to PostScript. Turn
autosensing ON for the Ethernet card.
