732.0. "dual instances on NT" by ALFSS1::WALTERS () Sat Feb 08 1997 16:48

    Hi all,
Does anyone know of a site(s) that are running 2 R/3 instances on one
    NT box (Alpha or Intel)?

    Thanks,

    Hello !

Assuming you mean 2 central instances (with DB & SAP) ?

Then the answer should be 'don't ask, because you shouldn't do that' !

SAP doesn't like (and support) having 2 DB servers on the same machine,
no matter which OS or DB.

Technically you can do it - but for a productive system you shouldn't
    even think about it.

    					Regards
    					Thomas

PS: During my NT installation training we all had Central
instances and dialog instances to the others which works fine (and
SAP doesn't have a problem with supporting multiple Dialog instances,
especially on big Alphas you could need them to use all the CPU power
    and the 4GB Memory)

    Thank you for replying Thomas.

Actually, I've seen OSS notes that say that you can do it. My client
is looking to do it. I know that no one likes to think about doing 2
central instances on one machine for several technical reasons. My
client is asking about this scenario and especially if anyone is
actually doing this (i.e., development and QA instances). I am aware of
places running multiple instances, but they are UNIX.

So, might you (or anyone else) know of some client running dual
instances on NT (Alpha or Intel)? Thanks again for any help.
