2130.0. "Digital Sewing Group anyone?" by XANADU::CHIASSON () Fri Feb 14 1997 12:14

    Are there any Digital Quilting or Sewing groups?
    If not, is there any interest to start one?

    I love to sew, but have very little time at home to do so.
    I like to take sewing classes every once in a while just to get out,
    and get the time to sew.

    If there is an interest, maybe we could schedule an after hours
    conference room to gather interested parties? I work in ZK - Nashua.
    Is anyone interested in starting our own Guild?

I'd be intersted, but after hours would be a problem if meeting very regularly.
Lunchtimes would be great!

I work in ZKO too, would certainly be interested in joining you.

I am planning to put together a quilt with pieces decorated by
a group of children, and have never done anything like this before...

2130.3How about March?XANADU::CHIASSONWed Feb 19 1997 12:4734

    The reason I indicated after hours, is because that would give us more
    time for our projects. I find only an hour to be too short to really
    get going. Plus, we have sewing machines to set up and cutting spaces
    to spread out.

    Maybe would could start off meeting twice a month to see how it goes,
    and if there is much interest.

    Does anyone have a preferred date or day of the week?
    I think conference rooms should be pretty abundant after hours --

    How about a first meeting some time in March?
    If there is more interest, could the persons replying to this note
    please indicate what they would like to work on and/or what they would
    like to learn?

    My interests include quilting, heirloom sewing, and childrens clothing.
    I have about a dozen projects open and wouldn't mind finishing up a
    few -- before staring new ones that is ...

    How about for a first meeting, we plan a fabric swap. If you are like
    me, you have tons of "I like it but I'm not sure what I would use it
    for" fabric.

    If everyone could bring in 1 yard of fabric that they would like to
    swap, we could cut it into fat quarters, and come home with 4 fabric
    quarters to get starting on a piecing project.

    Any interest?

2130.4I am interested but...GLRMAI::BRENNAThu Feb 20 1997 13:196
    I would love to join in an afterhours group. I'm in TAY and 5 months
    pregnant. By the time 5:00 comes along, I'm pooped but after my baby
    is born, perhaps I will be able to make it after hours in ZKO
    somewhere.

2130.5Meeting will be Apr. 8thXANADU::CHIASSONFri Mar 28 1997 10:3113

    I have a couple of interested people in getting together, so lets
    give it a try.

    How about April 8th after hours. I will set up a conference room,
    and post it in a follow up note. This would be a good time to get
    those spring projects out.

    I just finished a couple of Easter dresses for my daughters. I'm
    ready to get going on something new and fun ...
