Hi... I am trying to find out if there is any 'scriptable' mechanism to determine the hardware details of a PC when running Windows 95 and Windows for Workgroups (this note will be posted in the Windows 95 and WFW conferences). This is to enable the production of a batch file which can be used to obtain certain information about the system (such as free disk space, memory configuration and machine type) which will then be stored in a central database. I would like to be able to determine whether the system was a 386, 486, Pentium, etc and also the chip speed. Any comments appreciated. Rgds, Graham

Sounds like you are re-creating the wheel. SMS/Assetworks does this for you. Or there is some software called Sandra which can do this, dunno if you can call it from a script at logon or not. http://www.city.ac.uk/~ax515/sandra.html | |||||

Hi, Greg... Yes, I know that this functionality is available in things like SMS. Unfortunately, this is for a project in BT where they want to use another tool which does not automatically have this capability. Rgds, Graham |
