2936.0. "connecting to LAN Manager share over slow WAN" by QCAV01::JAYARAM () Mon May 26 1997 05:42
hello all,
This is regarding with connecting to a LAN manager
share over a slow WAN link from Windows 95
When I try to connect to a Lan manager share over a congested
Wan link I get an error as
The network is busy
or some times the error message is
the computer or share you are trying to connect is either not available
.. etc
This happens only when the Wan link is heavily used (during peak
working hours).I am able to connect easily during sundays for
example.
When the Lan manager share is not accessable i am able to ping
the remote node in with about 30000 in the -w option
The Lan manager share can be connected through an NT machine
though it is very slow.
Is there any registry setting that can be set in Windows 95
by which it will have a longer tineout to access shares
over the WAN.is there any other way out
Thanks in advance
jayaram
