| I believe this is a know bug in the non-US versions of Win95 OSR2.
I think loading HIMEM.SYS from the US-Version would cure it (but you
get English messages from it).

thanks for the suggestion.
The customer has tried HIMEM from an American version without
good resoult.
He also tried with HIMEM from an 950A version but the problem is
still present.
He investigated among his customers and found the same problem on
various PCs, not only on Pentium Pro et not only on Digital PCs (he
found the same problem on IBM and Clone PCs).
Any other idea ??

| re .2: I'm sorry about the misinformation I gave in .1 - I checked and
the culprit is IO.SYS and not HIMEM.SYS. But the symptom is that
HIMEM.SYS appears to take too much space. It can be cured by using the
US English version of IO.SYS. The second link also contains a patch for
non-US versions.

| There is an official MS patch available to fix this problem.
