2901.0. "who's mucking with my floppy?" by WRKSYS::CHALTAS (Lies, Damn Lies & Statistics) Fri Apr 11 1997 17:12

Every now and again something tries to access my floppy drive
for a minute or so -- even when there's no disk in the drive.
I first noticed this after I installed an HP T3000 tape drive
on the floppy controller, but I'm not sure that's when it
    really began to occurr.

How can I find out what's trying to access the drive?

Do you have any documents referenced by "START - DOCUMENTS" that were
    originally on the A: drive?

In conjunction with some sort of "auto save", that could definitely
    	explain it.

I'll check the documents -- and yes, I *do* use autosave.

A little late but...

Another culprit is the infamous FindFast feature of Office 95 (and '97?).
On my system it would periodically cripple the system performance and try
to access the floppy. Look for a shortcut in your Startup folder - and I
recommend you delete it!
