Hi , firt of all I was running Windows 3.11 for Workgroups with the following configuration and It worked correctly . I upgraded to Windows95 and now I cant get my modem to work . system Venturis - the Palomino motherboard Goldstar CD as second device on 1'st IDE sound Card internal fax modem Generic type 14,400 When I look at the modem settings from control panel>modem I see that it sees an IRQ of 3 with and address of 2E8 . Looking at the BIOS I see that port set at 2F8 , when I changed it to be the same , I cant even talk to the comm port . MSD shows no conflicts . When I look at Comm 4 from device manager I see the port allocated to IRQ 3 at address 2E8 with serialI.dll driver and not COMM.drv which is what I want it to be . Any ideas , thanks Frank Bernal

It's always been hairy using COM1/COM3 and COM2/COM4 simultaneously. First, delete all COM ports from Control Panel | System | Device Manager. Shut the system down. If you have a serial mouse, plug it into COM1. Set your modem to use COM2. In your BIOS, the COM port reference is for ports build into the mother board. Enable COM1 and disable COM2. When you reboot w95, it should detect two new COM ports and install the appropriate drivers for them. If it only detects one, force the OS to Detect New Hardware and it should see it then!
