| | Actually, I believe I heard that the newest version of Hyperterm did
fix this. Unfortunately, I think this version, unlike it's predecessors,
    costs $$. Check out http://www.hilgraeve.com/

| | Looks like I was wrong about the cost. No price was listed and I was able
to download it. Must be free.

| | The free version of Hyperterm is the Lite version, and it's free,
and worth every penny (and not much more). The new version does fix
the backspace/del problem (go to Properties), but it's still only a
    VT100 emulation that doesn't map F1-F4 to the NumLock / * - keys
(you have to use F1-F4 -- tolerable on a notebook, not otherwise),
and you can't (that I could find) use the editing keypad (PageUp
etc.) or set a page size longer than 24 lines.

There's a trial version of the commercial product that I haven't
looked at; I assume the commercial product fixes most of these
    deficiencies.

On my laptop, the keypad is activated via NUMLOCK and 13 of the
    	keyboard keys [7-0 u-p j-; m].

    	However, I don't think I have a page up/down. I mean, I do, but
it performs the expected up/down action on the window and not
    	just the edit screen.

I finally got around to downloading the new, improved
version of HyperTerm. With the option of setting
backspace = delete I'm happy. It meets my simple needs.
