I have a Venturis PC running Win95. For the first few months I used it, I didn't get the "Getting Started" splash on bootup. Now I do. I don't know what changed. I don't want to get this splash. Is there anything I can do to suppress it?

Start->Run type "welcome" as the program to execute. This brings up the Windows 95 Splash screen - select the checkbox to disable display on startup. Owen.

I suspect this is the Digital "Getting Started" application. There should be an option to disable it, but look also in the Startup group or in WIN.INI for a RUN= or LOAD= line that starts it. Steve

In response to -.1, I looked in win.ini and found two lines for "run=C:\digital\decshell.exe", one preceded by "rem" and one not. I manually ran this program, and this brought up the splash referenced in .0. I took the non-rem line out of win.ini. I will see if this fixes the problem. |
