2793.0. "Celebris GL power management problem" by ANNECY::AEO452::KENNEALY_R () Wed Feb 12 1997 07:48
Hello,
I have a problem with Power Management on a PC, a Celebris 5120 GL ST.
First I was running under the originally installed BIOS (I'm sorry, but I
don't know the version number of the original BIOS). With this BIOS version
power management worked properly (i.e. the disks spun down when the computer
went to sleep), but I had a problem with the whole system hanging when a
modem interrupt occured while the computer was sleeping. (See the following
notes: 2352 of Windows 95, 7031 of DECSTATION and 3696 of EuroPC.)
Various people suggested that the problem would go away if I upgraded to the
latest BIOS available from the appropriate Website. So I upgraded to this BIOS.
Unfortunately, now Power Management now does not work at all !
I have configured the setup as Plug and Play OS, and I have enabled Power
Management. This configuration however does NOT cause the disks to spin down
once the computer goes into sleep mode.
I have found that if I run the application "Find New Hardware" from the
Control Panel, and then suspend the machine immediately afterwards, power
management works properly once (i.e. the disks spin down as they should);
however when the computer wakes up, power management ceases to work again.
Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can rectify this problem ?
Thanks in advance
Roger
