| Hmmm. Isn't dmhkey Diamond's "In Control Tools" monitor? Do you have a
Diamond video card? Did you have the In Control Tools running with Win3.1 (or
whichever) before you upgraded? Conceivably, the In Control stuff you have is
not usable on Win95. They have a number of upgraded drivers on their web site.

| Which Pentium 133?
You will get -exactly- this problem if you add on a Diamond card to a
PC with an on-board video chip, whether W95 reports it as disabled or
not.
DMHKEY is part of the Diamond Incontrol tools.
I had to find a new machine to install the Video card into - Could not
make it work otherwise.
De-install the Diamond tools, and install just the driver, not the
InControl Tools. That may help.

2769.3 | Diamond Stealth card it is! | IVOSS1::NGUYEN_D | | Wed Jan 29 1997 14:37 | 13 |
| Hi,
Thanks very much for the tips. The machine that has the problem is
an Intel P133 with Diamond Stealth card. I also
have an Intel P200, also with Diamond Stealth card. Both machine have
pretty much the same configurations, runing Windows 95 Plus. However,
the P200 seems to be working fine. Haven't had any problem with
"dmhkey". Can someone explain? By the way, is the size of the monitor
an issue? The P200 has the Panasonic 17" monitor and the P133 has the
Panasonic 15" monitor. Thanks again.

| The size of the monitor is almost surely not an issue.
As .2 says, check to see if the new motherboard has a built-in video adaptor.
If so, see if it can be disabled with a jumper on the motherboard. Chris seems
to indicate that even that might not be good enough.
Diamond has frequently had the reputation of having somewhat flaky software,
but for any software so close to the h/w it is easily possible to act
differently depending on the exact motherboard speed and configuration. I'd
try what Chris suggested: Try to either remove only the in-control tools or if
necessary, remove the whole thing and re-install only the driver w/o the tools.

| BTW, I discovered last night that you can stop "In Control Tools" from running
by simply removing it from the Startup menu in Win95.
