2753.3ANOTHER SITE: HTTP://WWW.ONSALE.COM/STAR::BRASSARDBob B. 381-1462 OVMS CIPCA DVTFri Jan 24 1997 12:295
    Another site, http://www.onsale.com/ has been mentioned in the
    items-wanted note here (110.*). I visited this site this week,
    but can't remember if this is "auction": I believe it is.

2753.4www.onsale.com: IMHO: Don't waste your time.JULIET::HARRIS_MANetworks Sales ExecFri Jan 24 1997 14:5312
    www.onsale.com tends to be full retail/mailorder type pricing. Infact,
    I find anything at the component level (disks, memory, cpus, etc) are
    actually 15-30% HIGHER than I can walk down to the store and get it
    for. Most of the 'deals' are actually retailers who have large
    inventory positions and they just want to use www.onsale.com as an
    advertising vehicle... no special/discounted prices at all.

    much better is www.ebay.com. There is quite a bit of used,
    overstocked, one-of-a-kind and n-1 version stuff from individuals and
    companies. You REALLY CAN find deals at www.ebay.com

2753.6it's OK for me!BSS::PROCTOR_RSniffing the floral arrangementThu Feb 27 1997 19:1819
    I have picked up for myself, SO, friends, etc:

    - travan 1 tapes: sony: $15
    - HP travan tape drive: $80
    - Microsolutions tape drive: $90
    - NEC 7x cdrom x 2x: $100
    - Nakamichi 7x cdom x 2x (two of 'em; new) $140
    - SCSI Adaptec 1542: $40

    sold stuff on www.ebay.com
    - stuff: $whatever

    it all worked fine when I got it in the door.

    no problems.

    highly recommended by Dr. Mom.
2753.7Legit, if not a little expensive...JULIET::HARRIS_MANetworks Sales ExecMon Mar 03 1997 12:596
    Those places tend to deliver product as noted, no difficulty in
    shipping or charging etc. They are legit. They tend to be A LITTLE
    EXPENSIVE however. You can usually find products for 25%-35%
    cheaper by looking elsewhere, mailorder, etc.
