2710.2 | Scroll vs Jump, is this configurable | NWD002::FEIGLE | | Fri May 02 1997 01:06 | 12 |
| On this taskbar item...
Two machines.... one machine, with autohide, the taskbar scrolls off
the bottom, and then scrolls away.
2nd machine (and slower I might add) with autohide, the taskbar jumps
off the bottom, and then jumps away.
QUestion: is this configurable, and where. I prefer the "jump" on my
486, the "scroll on my 686 is for the birds.

2710.3 | One machine has Plus! installed? | STAR::DZIEDZIC | Tony Dziedzic - DTN 381-2438 | Fri May 02 1997 08:09 | 3 |
| The "smooth" effect is part of the Plus! pack. I'm not sure if
it's only a registry key (searches for "smooth" didn't turn up
anything interesting, nor did "taskbar").

2710.4 | Both machines have plus... | NWD002::FEIGLE | | Fri May 02 1997 11:38 | 9 |
| I have "plus" on both machines.... which might imply that it is
configurable. Wonder why it would be different on one machine vs the
other.... as I prefer the "jump"...
This could be my first attack at the registry (but I wonder why, since
I used the same PLUS kit on both machines) so if there is an entry I
should be looking for.... then I'll have a go.

2710.5 | Display Properies=>Plus tab | POWDML::HUSTON | Jeff Huston | Mon May 05 1997 15:32 | 4 |
| This feature is managed with the "show widow contents while dragging"
check box. Look on the display properities, and PLUS tab.

2710.6 | Changes on one machine, but no affect on other | NWD002::FEIGLE | | Mon May 05 1997 22:21 | 28 |
| Strangest thing.... I checked as -1 says, and found both of the display
properties for PLUS identical. Both machines have Show window contents
while drafgging, and show icons using all possible colors...... clearly
one of those would affect the "jump" vs "scroll" of the task bar <duh>
On the machine that had "scroll", I unchecked the show contents box,
and then rechecked it. Then hit apply.... it went to "jump" <duh>
Nope, I rechecked it... smooth seems to be the result of show window
contents while dragging. I can turn it on/off on that machine. Okay,
now we check the second machine.... which has the same features
clicked, but jumps....
On this machine (486), the show contents box check/vs/unchecked has no
affect on the jump/scroll of the taskbar. WSince it jumps, and it is
the way that I want it....... I'll reload PLUS... just to see if it
didn't do itself right the first time.
You figure... I have both machines working now the way I want them, but
I'm going to reload Plus on the one that won't "scroll", just to make
sure I've got it right!
Thanks for the pointer to plus.... strange that "dragging" would affect
smooth/vs/jump on the taskbar. And then only on one of two
machines.... <duh>
