| I'm fighting with a corrupt registry...
When I tried regclean, I got the same error as shown in .0 (error 429).
Unfortunately, the solution described in .1 did not help.
Any idea what regclean is trying to tell me and how to fix it ?
Thanks for your help,
Hans.

2304.10 | W95 needs updated DLL for RegClean 4.1 to work | ACISS1::s_coghill.dyo.dec.com::CoghillS | Steve Coghill, NSIS Solution Architect | Thu Apr 03 1997 11:16 | 19 |
| You may have a problem with 4.1. I did. I sent a memo to [email protected]
about it an got a canned response. This is the applicable part of the memo to
my problem:
====
REQUIRES UPDATED OLEAUT32 (Windows says "A device attached to the system
is not functioning."):
(status updated: 25 Mar 97)
RegClean requires a newer version of OLEAUT32.DLL (version 2.20.4049 or
later) than the one that is provided as part of Windows 95. We are
working on ways to provide this as an update. Alternate ways that you
can get this file are by installing a product like Microsoft Internet
Explorer, or the Office 97 Free Preview. You can even uninstall them,
once installed, and the new OLEAUT32.DLL should remain on your system.
====
Anyone know how I can get a copy of OLEAUT32.DLL:421 without having
to install/de-install one of the above products?
