My W95 system can't find the file decpw.386 on boot-up. It doesn't
fail, but it does "pause" upon boot-up and force me to hit a key to
continue.
Is it a password file? Does someone have a copy of the file that I
can have? And in which directory does it belong?
Thanks for any info.

DECpw.386 is a Pathworks file. You should find this
file in your Pathworks kit. It is not a password file. It
contains executable code.

OK, that explains it.
I was playing around with network services and clicked on "Pathworks"
without thinking first, and the system installed [or appeared to
install, since I wasn't loading off of a disk ... what was it doing
with all of those file names that flashed across the screen?] part of
Pathworks until it prompted me for a disk, and then I cancelled it.
Is it possible to uninstall it, or edit my WINDOWS.INI [or is it
SYSTEM.INI?] so that it's not looking for the file?
Thanks for any info.

Nice going, Shawn! I *told* you not to play with things that you
didn't understand. You are grounded for the next 2 weeks. No TV, no
PCs, no comic books, nothing. absolutely nada.
Now go to your cube. right now.

| The "PATHWORKS support" that comes with Win95 is for the ancient and
long-unsupported 'PATHWORKS for DOS v4.1' product, and the diskette
is asked for is the old kludge that allowed you to use DECnet on a
WfW system. For anyone who wants DECnet and/or LAT on their PC, the
right thing to do (as of today, anyway) is to use the PATHWORKS 32
v7.0 product -- see the JAMIN::PATHWORKS32 conference for details.
