| 1030.3 | LA70 is in IBM mode, OK in DOS:slow in Windows | DABEAN::NEARY | Bob Neary Lexington,Mass | Tue Mar 11 1997 14:10 | 12 |
I have an LA70 hooked up to my pentium machine. In Windows95 (and
WIN3.1) , it doesn't do 'buffering'. If I push to DOS mode, it
does bidirectional printing: works just fine. In Windows, it
seems to be printing in 'dot' mode as supposed to 'character mode'.
For example, in Netscape it takes ~1 min to print a page. I push to DOS
and print the same file, it prints about 5 pages a minute. In DOS
mode it does bidirectional printing: zips right along. In Windows mode,
it only prints in 1 direction and when it does print, it's slow.

| 1030.5 | Use generic text drive | ACISS2::FULTON | Other Vehicle = Federation Starship | Tue Mar 11 1997 18:54 | 6 |
Don't use the LA70 driver- use the generic text driver instead. That
way the printer will receive the text in ASCII. Of course if you have
graphics, they won't print.
