    Is there anything I can do to get rid of the annoying humming/whistling
    sound from my amp in my car?
1076.12Check out groundSCAMP::WAITTWed Feb 12 1997 13:151
    Check out the ground. Make sure there is a good connection.
1076.13SCASS1::BARBER_AAck! Bluh!Thu Feb 13 1997 11:004
    {looks down}  The ground?

    Seriously, where and how would I do this? From the amp itself? It's
    under my seat, so I'd probably have to take it in...
1076.14SCAMP::WAITTThu Feb 13 1997 12:158
    There are many causes of hum in a system. I just listed the "easiest"
    one to check out. Just look under the seat and make sure that the amp
    is grounded well. Check behind the radio and make sure the ground wire
    is attached to a good ground. If you are uncomfortable doing this I
    suggest you bring it to a reputable dealer and I mean reputable.
    Hunting down a ground problem sometimes takes a while.

    	Is it a constant hum, or does it depend on the speed of the engine?

1076.17SCASS1::BARBER_ABloated Egos R UsMon Feb 17 1997 17:483
    It's constant, but it gets higher/lower pitched depending on the
    volume level and the speed I'm going. It's starting to get on my
    nerves.

    Who installed the system? If it was done at a shop, go back. Otherwise,
    your best bet is to go to a reputable installer.... This is a very hard
    thing to track down. If it isn't done right the first time....
