1335.0. "Androstenedione" by HUMANE::RMULAC.DVO.DEC.COM::S_WATTUM (Scott Wattum - FTAM/VT/OSAK Engineering) Tue May 20 1997 13:36
Well, the latest in supplements seems to now be available, Androstenedione
(an-dro-sten-de-own). So I thought I'd create a note for discussion. Has
anyone tried it?
Supposedly (according to some studies done in East Germany) when given to men
at levels of 50 and 100 mg, testosterone levels were raised from 140% to 183%
and 211% to 237% respectively. However, even though there are studies showing
an increase in serum testosterone as well as sustained levels, there have been
no studies done which suggest that using it will result in an increase in muscle
mass.
Androstenedione is similar to DHEA, however, it is only one metabolic step away
from testosterone, and so is easier for the liver to convert than DHEA (which
has a more complex conversion process).
The floor is open for discussion.
