Shakey Steve and the BlueCats is searching for a piano
player to complete the band.
Current lineup is Vocals/Harp, Vocals/Guitar, Vocals/
Drums, Bass. We are respectful of each other and share
common goals. There are no arguments or ego issues.
Our ages are all between 35-45.
Vocals would be helpful but not a must.
Must be professional in appearance and actions, have
dependable transportation, decent equipment and be able
to play at a minimum - Boogie style , Swing, Jump and
Chicago styles. If you've heard Miss Honey Alexander-
Piazza, Pinetop Perkins or Otis Spann you know what we
want. Would consider a part time player or someone in
another band who is looking for additional work, if that
player was exceptional. Please note that we're looking
for a PIANO player, not an organ player. Although a B3
Hammond organ sound is great, its not great for the style
we play. If you have and play both, great! Bearing in
mind that 95% of our playlist selection will require piano.
Playlist currently at 40+ songs which includes a wide
selection of Blues styles. A goal is 100 songs in the
playlist.
Playlist includes cover selections from these artists:
Rod Piazza/Mighty Flyers, Hollywood Fats, Ronnie Earl,
Charlie Musselwhite, Sonnyboy Williamson, BB King,
Lil Charlie/Nightcats, Nighthawks, Willie Dixon,
Muddy Waters, Jimmy Rogers, Otis Rush, Freddy King,
Big Joe Williams, James Brown and many others including
some originals.
The covers we perform are generally obscure to all but
serious blues fans and are usually mistaken as originals.
The band has been well received at a number of Worcester
area nightspots including Gilrein's - Worcester's
"Home of the Blues".
Currently working on bookings in Connecticut, Providence,
NewPort R.I., Framingham, Boston.
We are performing at the New England Summer National Auto
Show at Green Hill Park, Worcester on the 4th of July.
The "Summer Nationals" draw many thousands of enthusiests.
We have a decent PA (small to medium room size) and
8 track recording equipment.
A self produced CD of original blues is a goal for 1997.
We rehearse each Thursday in Charlton, MA.(near Sturbridge)
from 7:00 to 10:00 PM.
We gig no more than 4 times per month. Twice per month is the
average. (this is for fun after all)
