4298.0. "UAS Merge Fails to NT4.0 System" by GRANPA::BARABIA () Tue May 20 1997 16:36

    I'm attempting to perform a UAS Merge from a PATHWORKS V5.0E ECO1
system up to a newly installed Windows NT V4.0 (Alpha) machine. I kick
off the UAS Merge option from PWRK$UPGRADE. I get a message telling me
its trying to read the Remote UAS data, then a Status box display with
    the message,

    		Error Reading Remote UAS Data

Which then tell me to reference PWRK$LMLOGS:PWRK$UPGRADE.LOG it
    contains the following:

network=NetBEUI20-May-97 15:21:24 (UAS merge) Added domain name FDACDER
    to lanman.ini
20-May-97 15:23:16 (UAS merge) Error returned from NetUserEnum, status:
    53
PLM_exit_handler: releasing lock database resources...	released 0
hash slots, 1 open mode, 0 range locks	remaining lock database
resources in use: 0 streams, 0 open modes, 0 range locks

I've tried this with DECnet as well and had the same problem. I also
saw on a previous try another Status number of 2242.

Like I mentioned, this is a just installed NT system and has only about
    5 users accounts on it.

    Input would be most appreciated.

    Barry,

Can the v5 server otherwise communicate with the NT server (ie, $ NET
VIEW, $ NET ADMIN \\nt, etc)?

    Paul,

Communications between the servers does seem to happen. I forgot to
mention this in my base note, but the UAS Merge does actually create
all the Groups from our PATHWORKS Server up on he NT server, I just
don't get the users added. Somewhere I thought I read this may be some
sort of API buffering problem between the servers. Any guesses?

    Thanks,

    Barry

Well, the universal cure all seemed to fix it. One of the other admin
folks re-started the NT server and now the UAS Merge is working.

    go figure.
