4283.0. "Windows 95 user desktop info not stored" by WOTVAX::SHARKEYA (LoginN - even makes the coffee@) Wed May 07 1997 13:04

    OK - who broke the server ?

    Back in the old days, you used to be able to store win95 user and
    desktop info on the server.

    Now, the only file that gets saved/restored is USER.DAT. According to
    the RK, this is because the server doesn't support long filenames.....

    I have reported this to the UK CSC and they have reproduced it with
    v5.0E ECO1 (which I have).

    So, any ideas on this one ? Is it broke or just a confguration problem.

    regards

Yes, the server does support long file names. But - Windows 95, at logon
and logoff time thinks it does NOT.

So, as I said - what broke ? This has been verified as not working.

4283.2It is broke !WOTVAX::oloras7.olo.dec.com::SharkeyaWinPass - now freeMon May 12 1997 09:405
FYI - The TSC in the UK have verified that it does work under ECO3 or
5.0D. So it got broke at 5.0E time.

    What about an iris trace?
4283.4Mail address ?WOTVAX::oloras3.olo.dec.com::SharkeyaWinPass - now freeMon May 12 1997 12:198
Sure, I have them, but I need a mail address to forward them to you. I am
at the end of a RAS line and do not seem to be able to connect to any
remote systems easily.

So, I have two Iris traces - one when the W95 machine starts and one when
it shuts down. Who do I mail them to ?

    Alan

    You know the procedure...

    The CSC should raise an IPMT and the IRIS traces are supplied
    as add. info. with the IPMT.

    Sounds official, but it makes sure that things get worked on.

Sure - no probs. The TSC (CSC in the UK) are aware of the problem. I have a
log no and they have reproduced the problem. I assume since they have not
asked for Iris traces that they already have some.

I thought you wanted them for interest/extra info.

I'll wait till I hear from them again.

Thanks anyway

4283.7Dealing with it...NNTPD::"[email protected]"StephenTue May 13 1997 07:377
This is issue is currently being dealt with here at the CSC and I shall
post the results once this has been dealt with by engineering.

Cheers
