4278.0. "5.0E-eco1 NT-client session confusions" by UTRTSC::HARLE () Tue Apr 29 1997 11:07

There is a problem in pw/vms 5.0e-eco1 session-management, when shares are
first browsed, then connected. My client is a NT4.0/PW32 system. A direct
"hard" map (\\server\share) to a share, without browsing, will work correctly.

Try the following from a NT4.0/PW32 client:

1.	Logon to the domain with any user name, browse the pw/vms server
with the NT Explorer and connect to the NetLogon share.

At this point, two sessions exist, both in the context of the user.

2.	Browse again with the NT Explorer and connect to another share,
this time a share with access permissions set. This connect wrongly
fails, because the user has access permission to the share. From
this moment on, the Netlogon share that was previously attached, has
	become inaccessible as well.

At this point, three sessions exist: 1 in the context of the user,
1 in the context of guest, 1 without user context (that probably
	causes the problem).

3.	Logoff from the domain, logon again and perform a "hard" connect
from the NT Explorer (Map Network Drive, Pathname: \\server\share),
first to NetLogon, then to the same share as in 2. No problems.

At this point, two sessions exist: both in the context of the user.

Has this already been IPMT'd ?

Raise an IPMT to get the sessions fix and try again.

Sounds like a variation of the session/mulit-session problem discussed
extensivly in earlier notes.

Would somebody by accident know an IPMT number ?
