4275.0. "Long file Names & Pathworks 5.0D eco3" by BACHUS::DEGEEST (Race-Bike Rider) Thu Apr 24 1997 10:44
Hi,
The following is happening:
- NT servers + Pathworks Servers
- NT workstation + WFW clients
- 16 / 32 bit applications
Shares exist on NT servers & Pathworks Servers
- On NT Share: LFN created by NT workstation can be accessed by
all clients.
- On PW FAT volume: during creation of fat volume restricted to 8.3,
no problem. LFN creation automatically cut at 8.3.
- On PW Share: LFN created by NT workstation: acces by LFN aware
client, no problem.
BUT: when a WFW client with Office 16 bit wants to access
an LFN this is not possible.(no 8.3 equivalent
created by vms like nt & w95 does on FAT)
We can not count on discipline from the users, because they don't even
know on what kind of server they are working.
Is there perhaps an undocumented parameter somewhere, like it is
possible in NT to disable LFN ?
rgds,
Leo De Geest MCS Brussels.
