    thanks for your reply. 
    
    The customer uses network printers and connections are made during
    printing (\\server\printsharename). She also gets prompted for a 
    password, when connecting from a DOS-Box with "net use lpt1:".
    There seems to be a problem with account synchronisation from PDC
    to BDC, as their 'accounts.lmx' does not get updated on the VMS side
    if she changes passwords on the PDC (NT over WAN).
    This might help isolate the problem, still i do not known why she
    can use the fileshares without problems. 
    I asked her to look for Netlogon Service on VMS and to try the
    connection with a useraccount not in the domain, to see if guest 
    access works without prompting for passswords.
    
    What else can i check ?
