4273.0. "PW VMS and DELTA-TIME Limit Patch" by HAN::HAEUSSER () Thu Apr 24 1997 08:45

    Hello,

    a customer asked me if installation of the OPEN VMS DELTA-TIME Limit patch
    (look at www.openvms.digital.com) has any impact to PATHWORKS VMS.

    Any suggestions/experiences ?

4273.1It's fine.CPEEDY::HUANGPro vs. Con ==> Progress vs. ?Thu Apr 24 1997 10:3311

    We ran some tests with and without the VMS 10k-day delta time patch
    in our lab. It turns out fine.

    However, the de-installation of the 10k-day delta time patch has a
    problem. The problem is known by the VMS engineering.

Customers who are still using PCSA 4.x must install the DELTA-TIME eco patch.

Most of our customers are still using PCSA 4.x and we received
the last week a lot of call for the following problem :

When saving files from the PC to VMS area, the date displayed by the PC
is fun : 28-JAN-1998. The date given by VMS is correct.

Who has encountered this problem ?
Thanks,

    Gilles,

>Who has encountered this problem ?

    As you stated in your first sentence - everyone who is still running
    the old v4 server has the problem (as you stated).

    We here in the UK CSC saw 3-4 call comming in on the day where peolpe
    running pw 4.2 eco 8 were seeing problems with the date on files on
    server showing funny dates when viewed from the PC's. From the VMS side
    this was OK. We were unable to test here at the CSC as our only 4.2
    system actulay runs vax-vms 7.1 and all the other systems bar 1 had the
    delta time patch installed. The one system not having the patch was a
    test system and running pw5.0e-1 as a test.

    Hi,

    In France, already 8 customers called us for this problem.
    I reproduced it on a VMS V5.5-2 with Pathworks V4.2-1 eco 7 installed.
    From the PC side, the date is Jan-2098 but from VMS, the date is right.
    I'm going to install the patch today.

    After having installed the patch, all the files which where created
    between the 19 may 1997 and the date of the installation have to be
    saved in another file name because it still keeps the creation date
    of 2098 (many customers experienced the problem and that's the solution
    we proposed).
