4240.0. "Pathworks stoped displaying disk drives" by LISVAX::RIBEIRO_N (NELSON RIBEIRO @XIP) Wed Apr 02 1997 04:25

Hi all,
i have a vaxstation 4000 running vms 7.0 and pathworks v5.0d .
I had disk shares created on my pathworks and everything worked fine until i
have decided to join my vaxstation in a cluster with another vaxstation 4000.
The other vaxstation is not running pathworks.

The cluster (my machine and the other) is configured to serve disks and tapes to
one another.

Since i have done this, a very peculiar thing has started to happen. Every time
i go to "$ admin"
	- view
	- shared resources
	- do a ADD SHARE
	- select disk directory
the little screen where it was supposed to appear the physical devices does not
show anything.(*)Hope the drawing below, can help you understand what i mean.

I appreciate any help i can get with this.

Thanks,
NelsonR.

    Nelson,

    check $ admin/analyze/since=<when-pwrks-was-started> and see if you
    logged any autoshare related errors.

    also, do:

    	$ @sys$startup:pwrk$define_commands
    	$ define/user sys$output x.x
    	$ lmshare -l
    	$ search x.x ods-2

    Do you get a list of sharenames for the volumes on the system or "no
    strings matched"?

    could be the disks weren't mounted at the time PATHWORKS started? If
    so, simply do $ NET ACCOUNTS /SYNC to make them available to PATHWORKS
    (w/o having to restart PATHWORKS).

    I think Paul means to say

      $ NET SHARE /SYNC rather than

      $ NET ACCOUNTS /SYNC.

    Paul ?

    Thanks Eamonn - you're absolutely right (gotta slow down)...
