4218.0. "Pathworks crash" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Carlo Luraschi) Thu Mar 20 1997 04:04

Hello,
   a customer of mine has a Pathworks crash under very particular
circumstance.
She has a Pathworks Server for VMS V5.0C and Win95 clients with Pathworks 1.0A
   and use Decnet as network protocol.
On the PCs she has installed Lotus Organizer V2.1
When she tries to save a new file (giving a name for the first time) on a
   Pathworks share some Pathworks processes crash.
There is no problem if she saves the file on a local disk and after copies it
   on the share or if she works on an esisting file and saves it on a share
   from Lotus Organizer.
This problem is present only on 3 new PCs (one preinstalled DEC and two
Clones)
   that have a Win95 version OEM950B, on all other PCs Win95 version OEM950
   there is no problem.
All the other networks and Pathworks functionality work correctly.
Anyone have any idea ?

        Thanks Carlo

4218.1I'd suggest V5.0D-ECO3.STKAI1::BLUNDBERGCollission speed full!!!Thu Mar 20 1997 05:1616
    Carlo,

    you should really get this V5.0C server upgraded to a later version.

    There were a number of problems in V5.0C that caused for example the
    PWRK$LMSRV and PWRK$LMMCP processes to crash.

    For the moment I'd recommend V5.0D-ECO3.

    Hope this helps.

4218.2FAT32 problem?STKAI1::BLUNDBERGCollission speed full!!!Thu Mar 20 1997 05:229
    Hmmm...when I think about it more closely...

    could it be a FAT32 problem, I believe that the "newer" Win95 clients
    come with this new filesystem ?

    I don't think the Pathworks V5 server can handle FAT32 but then again I
    could be wrong.
