4191.0. "8-level restriction from stone-age" by UTRTSC::HARLE () Wed Mar 05 1997 07:53

OpenVMS still has this archaic restriction not being able
to restore files more than 8 directory levels deep.

Would't it be nice a have a PWRK.INI parameter that prevents
Pathworks/VMS from making files that never can be restored?

    There are versions of BACKUP that no longer have this restriction;
    check the OpenVMS notesfile for specifics.

    This issue has been in PW since stone-age.
    It should be in the release notes.

    RE .2 ... ah you'd better discuss that with the VMS folks - what Steven
    is talking about is a new and improved BACKUP that DOES backups and
    restores beyond the normal limit.
