4178.0. "Dropping Printer Connections" by GRANPA::BARABIA () Wed Feb 26 1997 16:07
About 2 weeks ago we enabled TCP/IP with our PATHWORKS V5.0D ECO3
Servers on our 3 node Alpha Cluster. Our TCP/IP stack on the Alpha's
is Multinet V3.5 Rev B. We have 3 Alpha's running VMS V6.2 Clustered
and use the PATHWORKS Alias. DECnet has been our only transport and we
are trying to include TCP/IP. Clients are a mix of Win95 and PW V5.1.
Since TCP/IP has been enabled, users are complaining about dropped
printer connections. The printers are TCP/IP accessed printers
not LAT printers. The Printer Share names are the same as the VMS Ques
names for the Win95 users.
Customer was wondering if somehow there could be some confusion on the
Network over the TCP/IP Printer name and the PATHWORKS Share name. I
can't think of why that could be a problem since they are different
names, but the customer inisisted I ask. Unfortunately I don't have
alot more information at this point but the customer insisted. As I get
more information I relay that here.
Thanks,
Barry A
