4174.2 | Seems to sort of work on unix havent tried VMS | KERNEL::BURNST | | Tue Mar 11 1997 09:41 | 15 |
| Alan,
Had cust's who have tried this with varying resluts.
DECUNIX alpha nfs exporting to DECUNIX alpha with PW then sharing out
this to PC's works ok for read and write.
Same cust tried this from a DG system as the nfs exporter and this
would allow PC's read but not write access. Unix users had both read &
write. Solution ended up with PC NFS for this one.
Another cust called in to tady and was having probs with exporting a
MS-Office CD from a SUN system importing into a ULTRIX pw 1.3 server
and sharing out to wfw clients. Could read but not execute. Solution to
this one was use a CD on wfw PC for sharing.
It is a supported File system for pw UNIX.

| Sharing NFS mount point doesn't work because most nfs client
implementations on VMS don't support ACLS and that's how permissions
get stored and arbitrated.
Also, PW knows quite a bit about XQP internals and there may be
problems with NFS devices.
