Can anyone explain the purpose of adding the following two parameters in PWRK.INI? [PCOMS] MAX_IPC_MESSAGES = 4096 MAX_NETLOGON_MESSAGES = 2048 I seem to remember that in an older version of PATHWORKS Server these lines were necessary in order to prevent some logon and share connection problems (PCOMS error message in PWRK$LMMCP.LOG). Customer is running V5.0D eco 3. Thanks, /Mario Hull CSC - Canada

Also, Here's a little note I keep handy to remind myself of when PCOMS buffers might get exhausted (aside from a high client netlogon session load): Higher values might be called for in instances where there is a very high number of clients, and the buffers are quickly exhausted. Note that PCOMS errors will result when PCOMS buffers are exhausted. If PWRK$L processes are servicing their requests, then eventually, buffers should be returned to the pool and then get resused. If however, a PWRK$L process is unable to service a request (due to an LEF or RWSCS state for example) requests targeted for the process get queued (via PCOMS buffers) and it is therefore easy for the buffers to get exhausted, and the server to be characteristically unresponsive (stuck). PCOMS buffers are taken from disk-based backing store (virtual memory). Steve |
