4162.0. "domain problem after nt40 upgrade with pw50c" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Gernot Meyer) Wed Feb 19 1997 06:38

Hey

after upgrading my NT PDC from NT351 to 40, the BDC (VAX/VMS, PW 5.0c) is
unable to find the PDC any more. Also after promoting a digitalUNIX Server
with PW6.1 to PDC, the error is still there.
After logon, net view, net user, ... works properly in the whole domain.

But changing role from standalone to bdc or member allways forces the
'unable to find pdc' error.

Thanks for any help

4162.2What have you checked?VMSNET::P_NUNEZWed Feb 19 1997 08:3912

    At minimum, you need to upgrade PATHWORKS server to v5.0E for NT v4.0
    support.  Plus...

    There are countless notes on basic things to check when such a problem
    crops up...what does $ ADMIN/ANALYZE/SINCE and $ NET ERROR /REVERSE
    indicate? Have you tried deleting the machine acct of the pathworks
    server/cluster on both the NT and PATHWORKS servers, done $ NET LOGON
    as an ADMIN-priv'd user from the DCL prompt on the PATHWORKS server,
    and then tried to change roles? Checked the GUEST acct? Etc, etc...
