Hi,
Past: I have an AlphaServer 1000 running OVMS ver 6.1 with PathWorks for
OpenVMS ( Macintosh ) and the Mac Client accessing their files
through a shared volume ( directory ).
Present: I need to get a Windows 95 Client PC to access the files on
the shared volume which was created by the PathWorks for OpenVMS
( Macintosh ) on the Server.
The Solution that I proposed was to have the v6.0 for DOS and Windows
(LAN Manager) loaded on the PC Client and the PathWorks for OpenVMS
( LAN MAnager) loaded on the AlphaServer 1000.
With the PathWorks for OpenVMS ( LAN MAnager), I think it should be
able to be configured to point to the same shared volume. Thus the
Windows 95 Client PC should be able to access the files that was
previously being access by macintosh Client.
With the above configuration, the Mac Client and the Win 95 Client
should be able to access the files on the same shared volume.
Could anyone able to hightlight to me if the above configuration will
work for my customer ?
Thanks

Works here no problem,
I have a couple of points to raise.
Why do you want to put PW on the 95 client. As long as the cust is
running NETBEUI (free with PW server) or TCP/IP comes with the alpha
NAS licenses and 95 has both these transports then only the licensing
parts of PW 95 (or PW 32 (V7.0)) will be needed.
As for sharing files this will not be REAL file sharing but the files
will be able to be shared in the fact that MAC opens flie, MAC closes
file, PC opens file ect..... This is will only realy cause problems
with databases or (mail files) trying to be shared between PC's and
MAC's at the same time.
