4148.0. "Current active sessions broke in admin/path" by ALFSS2::SOMPAYRACS () Thu Feb 06 1997 14:14

    Hi,

Csutomer has reported that when he goes into ADMIN/PATH status and
gotes to server statistics that prior to upgrading to 5.0d eco3 he got
the correct total number of sessions in Current Active Sessions. Now
he gets 0 there instead of the number that net sessions shows. In his
case that was 40 in my case that was 3. It seems to work on 5.0c eco3
server but does not work with 5.0d eco3 or 5.0e server here at the CSC.
Got any ideas what broke and has this been escalated yet?

    Thanks,

dir/title="active sessions" would have found a note, less than 1 month old.

That note would tell you that it is fixed in the next release of PATHWORKS V5.

I only saw my own note when I did that search.

What version does fix the problem?

    Thanks,

Note 4012.6 PW/VMS 5.0D ECO5 NET WHO & active session = 0 6 of 7

From the V50D-ECO3 release notes:

8.3.2.8 NET WHO Displays Incomplete Results

              Problem:

When you use the NET WHO command, the result may be
incomplete; that is, some users may be omitted from the
              display.

              Solution:

              None available

Basically, NET WHO doesn't work. The API used to implement NET WHO is
NetLogonEnum which has been dropped from Lan Manager 3.* (aka NT3.5, NT4,
Advanced Server, etc). NET WHO itself is dropped from LM3.* (which means
dropped from PW6.0 also).

If there is an NT box in your domain and NT is validating logons, none of those
logons will show up in a NET WHO.

And there are other cases where NET WHO won't work, or the NetlogonEnum API
wont provide the correct data.

There a 3 cases that I know of regarding the active sessions = 0.

This has been fixed and will be in V5.0E-ECO1.

.2>> What version does fix the problem?

As I said in .1, the next release. We just released V5.0E, so the next one
will be either V5.0E-ECO1 or V5.0F. Whatever they decide to call it, it
should be available within a few months. Maybe sooner.

If your customer wants a fix now, escalate it.

4148.6criptic workaround for nowALFSS2::SOMPAYRACSFri Feb 07 1997 10:516
I have a criptic fix that will parse out the number of nodes connected
out of the net sessions command.

That should be fine for now.
