4147.0. "PWRK V5.0E NET VERSION misleading info" by PEARS::EDER (All we need is ... notes) Thu Feb 06 1997 08:05

    this note is just to let you know about a little "beauty error":

    PRODUCT: PATHWORKS for OpenVMS Version 5.0E (LanManager)
    OP/SYS:   OPENVMSVAX 6.1 , V7.0

    SYMPTOM:

    You want to know the actual version of the installed product
    PATHWORKS for VMS (LanManager)

    $ NET VERSION

    and you get the misleading output

    PATHWORKS V5 for OpenVMS (LAN Manager)
    Version 5.0D

    SOLUTION:

    Use the command procedure
    $ @SYS$UPDATE:PWRK$VERSIONS.COM

    or the symbol
    $ PWVER when you have already run
    $ @SYS$MANAGER:PWRK$DEFINE_COMMANDS

    to determine the actual installed version.

    Q: the output seems not to be one of the keywords which you can see
    with
    SHOWINI == "$SYS$SYSTEM:PWRK$SHOWINI.EXE"
    like
    PWRK$SHOWINI> show/keyword=NATIVELM

    Section: [VMSSERVER]  Type: String
      Keyword               Current                      Default
      --------------------  --------------------------- -----------------------
      NATIVELM "PATHWORKS V5 for OpenVMS ( "PATHWORKS V5 for
    			    LAN Manager)"	  	  OpenVMS (LAN Manager)"

    cheers
    	Walter, CSC Munich
