| Consult your VMS specialist. This is __definitly__ no PATHWORKS
problem.
You know, VMS stands for Virtual Memory System and does needs a
pagefile and pagefilequota.

4127.2 | OpenVMS tuning issue? | QBUS::B_GASPER | | Mon Jan 27 1997 06:29 | 22 |
| Hi,
I don't think its a problem with PATHWORKS on the smp system, there
are many people running these configurations. I would troubleshoot it
as an OpenVMS problem. See attached hints.
PFW Page Fault Wait. The process must wait for a page to be
read in from disk. If you see many processes in this
state, investigate disk contention problems, since this
state usually occurs when a disk containing a pagefile or
installed image files is overloaded with I/O requests or is
encountering I/O errors. See '13)' and '14)'for more
information.
Another cause is that the disk containing the page has
temporarily gone offline, in which case it will appear in
"Mount Verification" in the SHOW DEVICE display.
Try looking at this then possibly post in OpenVMS conference for tuning
help. One question is did you run autogen after the upgrade?

4127.3 | Without the second CPU it works short time ... | LATINA::ALBERTOG | MCS Madrid | Mon Jan 27 1997 07:14 | 22 |
| Thanks for the quick answers...
* Related with System hardware upgrade (second CPU and more memory):
1/ Customer ran an AUTOGEN
2/ Rerun un PWRK$CONFIG
3/ Rerun AUTOGEN AGAIN
---> Pathworks didn't work correctly
Due to customer hadn't Pathworks available, We told with him and
we decided to remove the second CPU and tried to restart the System.
Now waiting for customer call...
At this moment, the customer called to us and it seems to be that PWKS
started correcty. But, ... when around of 30 of his PC clients are connected
to PWKS Server, the PWKS Server stops working.
Thanks and regards,
Alberto G. .-

4127.4 | Problem was memory caches. Increased them and O.K. | LATINA::MONJE | MCS Madrid | Mon Feb 03 1997 04:14 | 12 |
| Hello,
It works fine now.
Problem was related with System Memory caches and Pathworks Memory
Caches.
Increase all of them and Pathworks works.

Antonio Monje
