    Hi all, a customer of mine has installed OpenVMS ALPHA 7.1 and 
    Motif 1.2-4.
    Some weeks ago I sent hia the latest Motif patch ALPMOTF01_U4012.
    Now he asks me if he had to install it on his system or not.
    Infact the ECO text says it is installable on OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 and
    Higher, but the release notes of the OpenVMS 7.1 says the patch is
    already included.
    What has he to do????

	The ALPMOTF01_U4012 kit may be factory installed on some systems, but in any event it wouldn't hurt to install it again. To see if the kit has been installed, have the customer run SYS$UPDATE: DECW$VERSIONS.COM. The first version number given is the "DECwindows ident". This will be V1.2-4960312 for V1.2-4 SSB (on Alpha) and V1.2-4960827 for ALPMOTF01_U4012. -- Bob
