5857.0. "problem with AV300 on Alpha 3000 (openVMS)" by HGOV05::MICHAELWAN () Mon Jun 02 1997 06:14
I have an Alpha 3000-800 workstation and the system is running OpenVMS 6.2
and I believe that the graphic card is AV300-AA.
The system's X-Windows works fine for remote workstations but I cannot
bring up the console workstation. I have got advise from the VMS notes
conference that I need to install 'DEC AXPVMS MMOV V2.0'. I did that but
the console workstation still cannot work.
When I did '$ decw$device', the message was:
-->
%DECW$DEVICE-W-NODEVICE, no graphics devices found.
The output of '$show dev g /full' was:
-->
Device GPA0:, device type DECwindows output device, is offline, record-oriented
device, carriage control, shareable.
I checked the system and noticed that the mmov$server process was running and
there was no error message in the log file.
I am sure that the graphic card is OK, since I can run X-windows with
multi-media service installed on Digital UNIX with another drive.
