5820.0. "accvio - decw$server => librtl?" by FORAT::JLS (Are we in the same ship?) Thu Apr 03 1997 11:39
Hello,
In the following lines is pointed the info from a decw$server crash.
Please, can anyone help me to troubleshoot the problem?
Thanks in advance,
/jls
System info:
ALPHASTATION 200 4/166 - 128MB

DECwindows programming ident is DW V1.2-3960215
OPEN3D 3.5 ( 2 X ZLXP-E1 MODULES installed in the system)
Firmware: V6.1-2
The customer is running a grahic application controlling an
electrical network, using displays in both available screens.
The problem is reported when an operator working with the graphic
application was trying to move a window from screen 0 to screen 1.
The process running the above application (called PGRAF) disappears
reporting a message in screen 0...and the operator is unable to
work.....finally the system is rebooted.
Looking at the error files from the decw$server (See 1) and "pgraf"
application (See 2),I think (?) the main problem is the crash from
the decw$server process.

| The server crash happens in routine "Miunion0" when calculating
the regions for expose events.
Please can you IPMT this.
It would be helpful if you could provide some of the following information:
a) Does the problem always happen when the window is moved between
screens or only sometimes?
b) If only sometimes then are there any characteristics describing
when it happens. The sort of characteristics likely to be relevant
are what underlying windows are exposed by the move event and their
shapes.
c) Exactly how is the user moving the window between screens (in
code, through MWM, etc.)
d) Please could you provide dates, idents & checksums for the

It's happened only once,as far as I know.
b) If only sometimes then are there any characteristics describing
when it happens. The sort of characteristics likely to be relevant
are what underlying windows are exposed by the move event and their

Unknown info at this time.
c) Exactly how is the user moving the window between screens (in

See the file "routines.txt".This file has been provided by the
