Very good news ! With OpenVMS 7.1 you get the Graphigs Options via $ COPY PALME::SYS$PUBLIC:GET_ENVIRONMENT.COM * ( to your System ) $ @GET_ENVIRONMENT Adapter Configuration: ---------------------- TR Adapter ADP Hose Bus BusArrayEntry Node Device Name / HW-Id -- ----------- -------- ---- -------------------- ---- ------------------------- 1 KA0D02 80D4C940 0 BUSLESS_SYSTEM 2 PCI 80D4CB40 0 PCI 80D4CE68 PKA: 6 NCR 53C810 SCSI 80D4CEA0 7 SATURN -----> 80D4CF80 GYA: 11 ZLXp-E (TGA) <--------- Stefan [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

V7.1 uses a file based configuration method. Part of the information in the file is a text string "description" of the device. This string can be obtained by things like CLUE CONFIG to use as the user-readable device name.

Hi Fred, It is a pity that SDA> CLUE CONFIG tells you not if it is a ZLXP-E1 ZLXP-E2 ZLXP-E3 Stefan [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

The configuration database keys off of the device ID. PCI devices provide a 32-bit ID, and V2 devices can optionally have a board specific 32-bit ID (making the full ID 64-bits). If the ZLXp-E1...E3 all have seperate ID's then they each could have a seperate string to identify them. In fact, they actually may, but the database currently contains just what minimal information was found in the comments in the old hardwired table. Now, all this is complicated by the fact that the Open3D group uses their own ICBM for configuring at least some of their devices. And the DECwindows group has yet another one (that I wrote and shipped before I actually moved onto changing the OpenVMS configuration method). The DECwindows autoconfig will probably have it's devices migrated into the system file, except for ISA card probing. In any case, the devices that are known to the system can be found in SYS$SYSTEM:SYS$CONFIG.DAT |
