I need to obtain a Color Postscipt file of the "entire workstation screen". The environment is Alpha/VMS with CDE. The standard Print Screen utility on DecWindows is very slow, are there some other product that produce a faster Print Screen on Color Postscript Format ? Xwd is faster, but doesn't produce a Color Postscript file, is there some way to convert Xwd graphics format to Color Postscrip Format ? [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

try to use XV.EXE. It's a Shareware-Utility for graphics image manipulation. You find it on the OpenVMS Freeware CD 3.0 or on http://www.openvms.digital.com/openvms/freeware/cd.html. It can grab the contents of a window (root window too) and save it as Postscript format. I'm not sure if it is faster than PrintScreen, I think the bottleneck is the disadvantage of Postscript to change image data to ascii representation. My disk quota don't want to know how large the Postscript file of a Screendump of my Workstation would be ;-) Regards, Stephan | |||||
